Thanks, Claire! I think everyone from Hampton enjoyed playing "host" too. I'm glad you enjoyed the Harvest Tour.

OK, honest farm-wife comment here--your husband is dressed just as much like a farmer as the farmer is. ;-) He'd just be a generation younger.

Isn't the technology spectacular? I just bought my husband an iPad this week for the sole purpose of running his grain drying bin from the field. The dryer is two miles from the house and is connected to our Internet connection via radio antennas and a VPN so he can run it from home, but now he can also control the settings from the iPad. Yes, there's an app for that!

I'm glad you enjoyed your time in rural Iowa and that you felt the sense of community we have in our small towns. Our rural county is currently undertaking a grassroots effort to get a 20-meg fiber optic connection to every home and farm in our entired county, which is almost entirely rural, and we're very close to making it a reality because of the community's ownership of and involvement in the project.

Thanks for the post!

(By the way, I got an error when attempting to comment the "regular" way and had to use Facebook login to make it go through.

Unloading "on the go" brings back harvest memories from my growing-up years on the farm in North Dakota, but we had a lot of CB radio talk and hand signals, not auto-steer!
